Looking to recognize how wildcrafting can teach us so much about the natural world and how to respect and honor its bounty. Wildcrafting sustainability, in my humble yet privileged opinion, requires that we change our relationship with greed, with desperation. It asks that we acknowledge the behaviors that seek to fill the holes within us with that which exists outside of us. It asks that we understand that sometimes our personal needs must be adjusted, that the plants and their ecosystems have needs too. Wildcrafting is a form of relationship-building, and like with all loving relationships it is a two-way street.

Echinacea purpurea, Purple Cone Flower, belongs to a genus of plants that is on United Plant Savers Species At-Risk list.
