Limited print. 5 x 5 matted photograph, numbered signed by Erika Galentin. Acid free matting. Also comes with the following description:

Butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) reminding us about our need to belong, to be a part of interconnectedness, to be an asset in an ecosystem. As Brené Brown has written, “Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.”

So many of us don’t feel like we belong. Whether in family, culture, or country, amongst friends or foes. Indeed, many of us are all too good at marginalizing others (including small children) because we think that they don’t belong. Perhaps we are projecting our lack of sense of belonging onto them.

Working with butterfly weed today as a reminder of belonging...and that orange is also the color of beautiful native plants that are necessary for the survival of so many pollinator species.
