The path into clinical herbal practice is daunting…

From my own experiences setting up and growing a successful clinical herbal practice, I know how difficult and overwhelming getting started can be. There are so many factors to consider; from legal nuances, clinical forms, and practice policies to pricing your services, figuring out insurance, attracting new clients, and building your dispensary (or even just deciding if you want to have one)...and you don’t know what you don’t know. Setting up a safe, ethical, and profitable clinical herbalism practice requires direction, support, and a bit of business savvy.

Whether you are just graduating from an herbalism program or are a long-term dedicated self-study student, there comes a time when the budding herbal practitioner arrives at the crossroads of clinical practice. And this is where many of us get lost and fall off the map. The business, clinical, and administrative infrastructure needed to build and grow a clinical practice can be overwhelming to navigate, or at the very least illusive enough to not even know where to begin. After all of those years of dedication and financial investment in your herbalism education, you hit a dead end and with heartbreak, you walk away from your dream of being a practicing herbalist working one on one with clients, Embarking down the path into practitionerhood and entrepreneurship is daunting but...

You are not alone…

What’s stopping you from starting your clinical practice?

➤ I am worried I don’t have enough herbal education to start my practice

➤ I am unsure if being a clinical herbalist is a financially viable option.

➤ I am lacking a clarity of vision for what safe and ethical clinical practice should look like and how it should function.

➤ I am fearful of losing time, money, and effort trying to build a clinical practice without understanding what is required.

➤ I am feeling lost and need guidance from a trusted source.

➤ I am experiencing a lack of professional support (and therefore confidence) to go public with my services.

➤ I am currently a licensed healthcare practitioner and am dubious about integrating herbal advice into my existing practice.

➤ I am frightened by the legal and ethical responsibilities of being a clinical practitioner and working in an unlicensed profession.

I came into this course fearful that an innocent mistake on my part could cost my family a lot. The class gave me concrete steps to move forward in business planning, appropriate language, working within the laws of my state, marketing my work appropriately and ethically, and establishing systems and business practices to protect my clients and myself while still being open and welcoming to clinical relationships. There is work to be done, and I am ready to do it with confidence!
